EYELASH EXTENSIONS - 101

April 7, 2017

If I tell you that eyelash extensions will change your life would you believe me?

Your eyes are definitely the window to your soul and eyelashes are the curtains… see what I did there? Lol

So let’s get started… Eyelash 101  A few things you need to know before you get eyelash extensions….

We get a lot of people asking questions like, how long do eyelash extensions last? Do they damage your natural lashes? When do they come for their refill etc? Well, in this post we are about to tell you just about EVERYTHING you need to know about eyelashes … You’re Welcome!!!

Before you have your lashes done (whether for the first time or not) it’s always a good idea to research your proposed lash artist/ lash studio. It is always best to go with a professionally trained artist. You can check out pictures of their work on their website, Instagram or Facebook to get a better idea of their level of skill and attention to detail.

1. Preparing for your appointment …

Make sure you get to your eyelash appointment on time. This will give you enough time to discuss the style and length of your lashes with your lash artist.

Make sure to get to your appointment with clean lashes and NO eye make up, no eyeliner, no mascara. This will allow for the best bond between your natural eyelashes and the extensions.

2. What to expect during your appointment …

Your lash artist will have you lay on your back and will place gel pads on your lower eyelashes with your eyes closed. You will lay with your eyes closed for about 2 hours, in which time the artist will place eyelash extensions (Silk or Mink, depending on the artist) on each of your natural lashes. Sounds crazy right, but once done properly you will love them. Most times during these session clients either listen to music or fall asleep. So it’s best to sit back and relax and shut out the world for a few hours

3. Caring for your eyelash extensions after your appointment ...

Your lash extensions are pretty easy to care for.  Basically avoid any oil based products like; eye make up removers, eye creams or gels and face washes containing oils. Oils loosen the bond of the adhesive used to attach the lash extension to the natural lash and your lash extensions just won’t last as long as they should do.

Avoid water on your eyelashes for the first 24 hours, after which you can wash your face as normal. Facials, saunas and steam rooms are a big NO NO… eeks!! So if you are anything like me and need a facial fix every now and again its best to do that before your eyelash appointment.

Say NO to mascara when you have your eyelash extensions on, in fact throw all your mascaras away. I’m sure you will when you see the difference eyelash extensions make.

Wash your lashes daily with an oil-free eyelash cleanser and brush your lashes with the spoolie provided at your appointment.

4. To Refill or not to refill?

So after you walk away with amazing, to die for lashes… what happens next? We always suggest clients come back for refills after 2 -3 weeks. This will help keep your lashes full and luscious. Your refill appointment will take half the time. However if you don’t want to come for a refill your lashes will fall out with your natural lashes when they shed. Eyelash extensions last for about 4-6 weeks, but they won’t stay as full as the first time you did them and this is why we recommend the refills.

5. Do Eyelash Extensions damage your natural lashes?

Absolutely NOT! When applied professionally, eyelash extensions will not damage your natural lashes. If anything they act as a barrier to protect your natural lashes and eventually help them to grow.

So what are you waiting for???? Book your appointment and let’s get you LASHED
